Marc Cairns is Managing Director of New Practice. He is a founding Director along with Becca.
With a focus on the future of the practice Marc leads on new collaborations, new clients, new projects and new challenges. He also leads on the public facing aspect of the practice, reinforcing our design authority by regularly presenting to peers and wider audiences, and lectures internationally.
Architecturally trained, and having spent time at Studio Daniel Libeskind in New York, Marc also maintains a creative overview of projects - acting as a critical voice within the practice, ensuring ambition and robust delivery.
In 2020, Marc was appointed as an Associate of the Design Council and to the British Council Creative Hubs Advisory Board. Building on existing and past work towards LGBTQIA+ advocacy in architecture in Scotland, Marc is a founding organising committee member of Open Plan Scotland, a volunteer led advocacy and support network for members of LGBTQIA+ community studying or working in Architecture in Scotland. Between 2021 and 2023, Marc was part of the organising committee for the Scottish Chapter of ArchitectureLGBT+.
