Joanna is a Senior Designer. She joined New Practice in 2021.

Prior to joining the practice, Joanna achieved a Bachelors Degree with Honours at the Bartlett School of Architecture and recently completed her Masters of Architecture at University of Edinburgh where she was Jointly awarded the ESALA Postgraduate Prize for Architectural Technology for creating a building standard tile made from 100% recycled materials using waste local to Edinburgh.

Joanna worked for Jan Kattein Architects on a variety of projects between 2018-2019 and Foster Lomas between 2017-2018.

Joanna brings to New Practice diverse experience ranging from small-scale detailed design to programming interventions for the public realm in London. Since joining New Practice she supported the Associates in developing urban strategies for community led projects in Glasgow and a complex pre-application planning consultation for the £12 million redesign of one of London’s most important garden squares.

As a Senior Designer, Joanna’s skills extend to community and stakeholder engagement. She has planned and delivered key engagements with local communities, utilising appropriate tools and tailoring the method of engagement for specific projects and communities.

“As well as built architecture, I am particularly interested in how print and craft can influence our spaces.

Prior to starting at New Practice, I was Chief Designer at Crumble Magazine, a bi-annual architecture magazine based in Edinburgh.”
